Privacy Policy

Who is responsible
Asymmetric Edge is operated by its publisher (the “Publisher”, “we”, “us”). The Publisher is responsible for the personal data described here.
Contact for privacy matters: info@asymedge.com.
This policy covers our public website, The Letter, free subscriber accounts, and enquiries. We do not currently collect payment details through the publication. We will update this policy before introducing paid services.
What we collect
- Subscriptions and accounts: your email address, any name you provide, subscription preferences, and signup, confirmation, sign-in, and unsubscribe records.
- Email delivery: delivery status, bounces, and spam complaints.
- Website activity: technical information used to deliver and secure the site, including IP addresses, browser and device information, and access logs. Native Ghost website analytics also measures page visits, referring sites, approximate location, and member activity. Member-source tracking records where subscriptions originate.
- Messages and comments: information you send to us or post in comments where enabled.
Why we use it
We use personal data to send the newsletters you requested, manage your account, respond to messages, operate and secure the website, understand which research attracts readers, monitor email delivery and subscription sources, and comply with legal obligations.
Where the GDPR applies, our legal bases are:
- Your consent for newsletter subscriptions. You may withdraw it at any time.
- Performance of the service agreement where processing is necessary to provide an account or service you request.
- Our legitimate interests in maintaining a secure website, responding to enquiries, and measuring website readership, where those interests are not overridden by your rights and consent is not otherwise required.
- Compliance with applicable legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal data or use it for targeted advertising.
Service providers and disclosures
- Ghost(Pro), operated by Ghost Foundation Ltd: hosts the publication and manages subscriber accounts and newsletter sending.
- Mailgun: supports email delivery through Ghost.
- Tinybird: supports Ghost’s native website analytics.
- Namecheap Private Email: hosts our contact mailbox and processes enquiries.
These services receive information necessary to perform their respective functions. Their infrastructure, security, and support providers may also process information in delivering those services.
We may disclose information where required by law or reasonably necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
International processing
Ghost reports EU data storage, while its data-processing agreement also permits processing outside the EU. Namecheap identifies the United States as the location of its Private Email servers.
Where required, transfers to countries without an adequate level of protection must be supported by recognised safeguards. Ghost’s data-processing agreement provides for standard contractual clauses for relevant international transfers. You may contact us for information about applicable safeguards or a copy, subject to appropriate redactions.
Cookies and analytics
Cookies needed for sign-in, security, and site functionality may be used. We do not use advertising cookies.
Native Ghost website analytics uses neither cookies nor persistent browser storage to identify visitors across sessions. Activity while signed in may nevertheless be associated with a member identifier and membership status.
Newsletter open and link-click tracking are disabled for new newsletter sends. We retain delivery information, such as delivery status, bounces, and spam complaints, to operate the newsletter. Website analytics and member-source tracking remain enabled; visiting the website from an email is subject to the website analytics described above.
Outbound links may include attribution parameters identifying Asymmetric Edge as the source of a visit to another website.
How long we keep it
We retain subscription and account information while needed to provide those services. Unsubscribing stops future newsletter deliveries. It does not immediately delete your account, but we may subsequently remove unsubscribed free accounts during routine account maintenance.
You may request deletion of your account and personal data. We assess and handle requests under applicable law. Some information may need to be retained for legal obligations, legal claims, security, or to respect an unsubscribe request.
Retention periods for messages, logs, analytics, and consent records depend on their purpose, whether they remain needed, and applicable legal requirements. Our providers also apply retention periods to their operational logs and backups; deletion from active systems does not necessarily remove backup copies immediately.
Your rights
Depending on applicable law, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, or a portable copy of your data. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing.
Use the unsubscribe link in each newsletter or write to info@asymedge.com. We may ask for proportionate information to verify your identity.
You may complain to the competent data-protection authority.
External content and changes
Links lead to websites with their own privacy practices. Embedded third-party content, where used, may transmit technical information to its provider when loaded.
We update this policy when our processing changes and show the revision date above. Material changes will be communicated where required.
